What is MaPPs?
MaPPs® provides a simplified 300-word patient information summary on over 6,000 medicines in the UK, helping patients understand their medicine, how to take it, and possible side effects.
How will MaPPs help our service and patients?
MaPPs reduces time spent explaining medicines and improves patient understanding post-discharge, supporting safer medication use and patient experience.
What are the benefits of MaPPs?
Benefits for patients (including MERLS for learning difficulties), staff (up-to-date counseling info), and organizations (CQUIN and CQC requirements).
Technical & Security
Is the system secure?
Yes. Database is accessible via HTTPS and hosted in the UK. Provider has Cyber Essentials Plus and exceeds NHS Digital DPS Toolkit requirements.
What patient name data is stored?
Patient name is held temporarily while preparing the PDF for printing. We don't store patient data in our database.
What about patient confidentiality?
Names are held briefly until printing. Saved PDFs include the name only on that file; we can report usage metrics without personal data.

Why don't you list all side effects?
We include frequent side effects, rare but important ones, and key warnings to avoid overwhelming patients.
